From Machaut to Okeghem
Blue Heron presents a recital of medieval French song – ballades, rondeaux, and virelais by the 14th-century poet and composer Guillaume de Machaut and his successors through the mid-15th century, including Gilles Binchois, Guillaume Du Fay, and Johannes Okeghem. The program includes songs in praise of Love and My Lady, songs of heartbreak, a song of spring, a drinking song, and a virtuosic instrumental arrangement of a famous song by Binchois.
